Our story

A Kirby Laing Foundation initiative

The Kirby Laing Foundation was established in 1972 as part of the Laing family’s long-standing commitment to charitable giving

Rooted in a background in construction and engineering, the Foundation has always been closely connected to the built environment and its role in shaping society.

Over time, that context has changed. The challenges facing the built environment today are more complex, more urgent, and more interconnected than ever.

Whether in housing, public health, climate or community, we believe these challenges require new ideas, new approaches, and broader collaboration.

Driven by impact

Constructive Pioneers is part of a renewed focus: bringing together funding, expertise and networks to support innovation in the built environment, supporting people and organisations to improve the places we depend on, prioritising long-term social and environmental impact.

Our vision

A safer, fairer world where the next generation of buildings and infrastructure are positive for the planet and enrich the lives of the people and communities they are designed to serve.
